Residential and non-residential places available

We invite you to join a 2-day break in a magical place, removed from all things city, work and stress – and take back with you a very simple set of tools and techniques that will make a huge difference to your wellbeing.

This is the perfect start for anyone who simply wants an introduction to Tai Chi and Qi Gong as a way to improve their wellbeing. Chris will teach you the Qi Gong set known as “Dragon & Tiger Medical Qigong”, passed down in China from Zhang Jia Hua, a doctor of Chinese medicine. It is highly effective, whilst it is easy enough to be practiced and learned by virtually anyone, regardless of their age or current state of health.

Meet Chris Gorman, your instructor

I teach Qigong and Tai Chi to groups and individuals in UK and Europe.

These arts have given me so much personally that I decided to make sharing them a part of my career path. I like to see what I offer as a set of tools and skills that can definitely help make a positive difference for just about anyone. I enjoy sharing what I know with whoever is interested in making a positive change in their life.

Dragon & Tiger Medical Qigong is a fantastic introduction to energetic health practices. I first studied the form in depth with Taoist lineage holder Bruce Frantzis Frantzis in Maui in the summer of 2012. As well as having great depth and being worthy of a lifetime of study and practice in and of itself, this set of easy to learn exercises can be a real lifesaver when it comes to managing stress and improving the ability to relax. Designed to be performed in 20 minutes and based on the Traditional Chinese Medical model, this set of seven unique exercises focuses on Energizing, Clearing and Balancing the Meridian system of the human body.

Practiced in a purely physical manner, this set can open and loosen every joint while relaxing the nerves and reducing daily stress. Once the more subtle internal skills are learned and folded into the set, it has the potential to balance every system a human body has.

Over the weekend you will learn the first two movements of the form in detail – these contain the concepts and qualities that plant the seeds for the remaining five movements to manifest. Whilst we will cover all seven movements in brief we will focus on the first two as the form is considered ‘front-end loaded’ with information and was traditionally taught this way.

In addition to this, we will cover a basic Taoist breathing methodology that can be integrated into your everyday life. We will also learn the art of feeling Qi or natural life energy, and how to work with the human bodies etheric field – a major component of this particular set and Qigong in general.

These practices have had a profound effect on how I experience life and relate to the world and I look forward to sharing them with you in such a beautiful setting.

The course will be taught at Glan Morfa. Depending on the weather, we will take classes in our library, around the nature park and lakes and we may even visit the beautiful forest and beach at Newborough, 5 minutes away. We will endeavor to make the most of the wonderful surroundings that Glan Morfa and Anglesey have to offer.

Accommodation (for residential participants) will be in individual rooms in one of Glan Morfa’s 6 charming cottages, converted from old farm buildings.

The library will be available for meals and everyone is welcome there outside course times.

There’s a games room and 37 acres of nature park where you can walk and practice in your own time.

On Saturday night we will light a fire, weather permitting!
